Kargil Victory day(Vijay Diwas) 20th Anniversary of Operation Vijay.
Today, July 26 is celebrated as "Kargil Victory Day"
across the country.
Today, 20 years have elapsed since the Pakistani
military infiltrated the Kargil area of Kashmir by eradicating the Pakistani
army's infiltration. On July 26 1999, India defeated Pakistan in a war with
Pakistan.
The Indian soldiers had flown the flag of victory in
the dust of Pakistan, trying great luck. This day is celebrated as 'KargilVictory Day'.
Some highlights of the Kargil War:
In the winter of 1998-99, several pieces were sent
from the Pakistani army to the mujahideen under the LOC in India. The operation
was called 'Operation
Badra'.
During the second week of May 7, the local shepherd informed
the Indian Army of the infiltration. Accordingly, Indian soldiers sent a
detachment to spy and attack.
Near About 5000 troops were sent from Pakistan to
conquer Kargil. But the Indian soldiers answered them as they should.
In the Kargil war, Indian soldiers killed about 3,000
Pakistani soldiers. The battle was fought at an altitude of 18,000 feet.
After the Kargil war started on May 8, the Indian Air
Force reached out for help on May 11. About 300 aircraft were used in the Air Force.
In Kargil war, the Indian Air Force also used the
MiG-27, MiG-29 against Pakistan. Pakistan bombed the area where it was
occupied. Several areas of Pakistan were attacked by R-77 missiles.
Bofors cannons were used in the battle of Kargil.
India's 527 soldiers were killed in the war while 1363 soldiers were injured.
Since India received international support during the
Kargil War, many countries in the world, including the United States, had
pressured Pakistan to withdraw its troops.
Many of Bharatmata's sons made sacrifices for the country
and gave inspiration to the warriors through their valour. Remember that today
is a day to remember the valour’s sacrifice and sacrifice of these valiant men.
